In this application, the lifter below is provided with the Squeeze-O-Turn end-effector with one flat and one straight V-block used to handle rolls 20-30″ diameter x 4.25″ wide with a maximum weight of 115-lbs. This end-effector is used to pick up rolls with their cores vertical and rotate them so that the cores are horizontal for placement of a shaft within the core and ultimate insertion of the roll to the machine. The flat side of the lifter arm was designed this way due to space constraints. There wasn’t enough room to slide a traditional V-block under the roll to pick it up. The centerline of shaft drop off height to floor is not to exceed 55”.
The operator, when in need of a roll, obtains a lifter and manually directs it to a pallet of rolls located in the staging queue. Shipper pallets are required to be placed onto an aluminum workstation pallet to allow for lifter leg access.
