Roll Handling Lifting Solution

July 8, 2022RonI offers Custom Ergonomic Lifting Solutions. We support a lot of standard operations but we thrive on the unique and rare request as well. The below project focuses on a customer needing to lift a custom fixture on and off of a machine table. Our team proposed a lifter with a boom and (3) hook end-effector to handle the customers’ fixtures. Center of gravity for the fixture was 10.8″ from the edge to the center of the fixture. The hooks on the boom were attached to the (3) eye-hooks on the fixture. (2) of the hooks were in the corner and one off center on the other side. The boom will lift the fixture on and off the machine table that is 32″ off the ground. These hooks will also be able to pick up the second, smaller device with holes 16″ and 18″ apart.
In this example, when the operator is in need of product, they take the operating hand of the tooling and manually direct it to the storage rack of fixtures located in the staging queue. The operator would position the lifter to straddle the boom and hooks over the product and lower the end effector until the hooks are above the fixture attachment points. Once the hooks are engaged, the operator would raise the tooling using the remote control.
Now the operator would wheel the lifter to the desired end location in the facility. Here the operator would drive the lifter to the drop-off location, lock the lifter breaks, lower or raise the boom and hooks until the tooling is even with the drop-off height. The final step would be unhooking the fixture from the lifter.
Once complete, the operator would pull the lifter back and wheel it to the staging queue for the next load.
