Case Study – V-Block End Effector
October 21, 2019Squeeze-O-Turn with Adjuster Knob
November 26, 2019The lifter shown below looks like a traditional lifter at first glance, but upon second glance contains a small custom piece. Typically our smooth Core Probes do not have a stopper / retainer pin. You normally only see this feature on one of our Wheeled Core Probe end effectors. The Wheeled Core Probes are used when a heavy roll needs to be transported (without rotation) but the weight requires the roller bars to aid in pushing the lifter on and off of the probe. These lifters use a retailer pin to prevent the roll from sliding off of the probe before it has reached its destination.
This particular project did not require a Wheeled Core Probe due to the roll weight but did require a retainer pin. The customer intended to use this lifter to pick up and lift rolls from shelves at a high elevation. Due to the high elevation the customer could not manually insert the retainer pin so a workaround had to be created. In this instance, the RonI Engineers created a knob at the end of the probe that would move up to secure the roll and down to release the roll (all controlled by the touch on a button on the back of the control panel).
The proposed lifter is offered with a 26” core probe end-effector used to handle rolls 8-22” x 3” core x 12-24” width with a maximum weight of 150-lbs. The end-effector would be used to pick up rolls in the horizontal position and then deposit them horizontally. The height for drop offs are 96” from the floor.
