“Excellence in Industrial Packing Award”
August 8, 2019Print Sleeve Handling
August 22, 2019The customer featured in this case study, located in Noida India, is one of the world’s premier manufacturer of PET film. Their Decatur, AL facility is the base for US operations and opened in 2015.
This customer’s system uses an RonI Lift-N-Glide (LNG) affixed to a Movomech overhead rail system and incorporates a RonI custom vacuum grab to handle slit rolls. The rail system, 7.7 m x 7.7 m, is a floor supported structure that covers (2) roll slitters. Their LNG has custom tooling that utilizes a vacuum to grab the face of the roll in a core horizontal orientation and then rotate the roll to a core vertical position. At this point the roll is then lowered over roll guides to form a layered pallet.
The key design requirement for RonI was that the equipment could not touch the roll bilge surface. Due to the roll being wound so tightly, we were able to use vacuum technology to grab the roll face and turn the roll from core horizontal to core vertical.
Their rail system was installed within two days and provides the benefit of eliminating the handling of 120 lb rolls, especially when having to lower that roll over a 1 m long center guide tube to form the pallet layers.
