ROLL HANDLING EQUIPMENT
R on I, Inc. specializes in mobile roll handling equipment that can lift and manipulate heavy rolls. Common applications involve moving, lifting, inverting, and rotating. We can lift and rotate rolls, spools, reels, as well as other products of similiar size and shape. In many cases, rolls must be transferred to and from pallets which commonly requires rotation between core vertical and core horizontal positions. We accomplish this by using a manual rotation handle or our optional electric rotate kit. Our end effectors, or attachments as they are commonly called, are interchangeable which means you can switch them easily to accommodate multiple applications with one piece of equipment.
Electric Roll Manipulators
Core Grip Technology
R on I, Inc. utilizes a core expander that does not involve teeth biting into the core. Our core expander does not damage the core of the roll and can be used with both plastic and cardboard cores. We pair this technology with 90-degree rotation and the end product is our Expand-O-Turn™ (EOT) end effector. With this tooling, you can manipulate rolls from core vertical to core horizontal or core horizontal to core vertical. The core expander also incorporates wheels to aid in the removal of the roll from the core expander. The EOT comes in two standard sizes to work with 3-inch and 6-inch cores. It can also be customized for your application requirements up to a maximum 10-inch core dimension.
External Grip Technology
For applications that require external gripping of the product, we use our Squeeze-O-Turn™ (SOT) attachment. The SOT incorporates stainless steel arms with "V-Blocks" to grip the outside of the roll with a gentle, controllable force. Once gripped, we can lift and rotate the roll with our Lift-O-Turn™ 360-degree variable speed rotation unit. The Lift-O-Turn™ will rotate the roll to enable the operator to insert a shaft for placement onto a machine or pallet for shipment of the roll.
Manual Roll Manipulators
Core Probe Attachment
Our Core Probe attachment comes in a variety of styles that include a standard probe as well as a wheeled version to assist the operator when offloading a heavy roll.
Use a V-Block to handle lightweight reels and rolls with manual rotation for spindle loading.
Fixed Forks can be used to pick up a reel and are the ideal solution for cross roll handling applications.
For lighter applications, our Expand-O-Turn Light™ is the perfect complement to our Lift-N-Go II™ lifter. The Expand-O-Turn Light™ is strictly a mechanical operation and does not require any power to operate. The unit has a maximum weight capacity of 80 pounds and can handle rolls with a maximum width of 12 inches.
